Distracted Deities
Dear dazzling divas, while reading these couple of
lines, for next few minutes as you scroll down the paragraph we would be
celebrating ‘US’ under this bit weird theme of ‘Distracted Deities’. You must
be wandering why distracted and what is so thoughtful to celebrate about it.
Well! I have an apt and
pretty crisp answer to it.
A woman is born in pain
Raised in pain
And bear the pain
To give this world the
existing human race.
The responsibility of
running the world whether it’s the world outside house or it’s in the house, lies on the soft fragile yet secured shoulders of a woman. The hypocrite
society who has double standards in dealing with women always look at us with
drooling expectations that are meant to be fulfilled and we surrender ourselves to
meet those expectations, yet can’t make everyone happy. And in this whole game of
making and keeping people happy we compromise, denying the facts that our bodies are
giving up as we don’t pay heed to the red flags given by hormonal
undulations, osteoporosis, shooting and drooping blood pressure, weakening
memory. The malleability with which life runs start loosing momentum with
oscillating mood swings, crackling bones, anxiousness, insomnia brought about
by unsteady hormonal imbalance. After striving so hard we are still judged, tagged and blamed for all the imperfections. In all the maddening race to fit
in everyone’s criteria, we remain distracted from the focal point that our own
health is equally important, our own dreams, personal wishes, likings and
dis-likings equally matter. We are as important as our husbands, kids, families,
jobs to us. Why am ‘I” last in the row? Let’s bring back that
distraction, lets rejoice the woman in us who is self-reliant, self-sufficient
and self-sustaining. let’s celebrate each stumble, each hurdle, each fall, each
imperfection, all forgetfulnesses, and
major miss ups. We are imperfectly mismatched still we perfectly carry each
task which has been assigned. Cheers to all distractions that make an impeccable blend of what we are
today…… the Distracted Deities.
